A Simple System for Baby Laundry

Baby laundry can feel constant, but a simple system can reduce the number of decisions. Keep a small hamper where clothes are changed, and separate heavily soiled items when needed. Check garment care labels before washing, especially for sleepwear, items with fasteners, and waterproof materials. Washing a few outfits at a time can be more manageable than waiting for a large pile.

Choose a detergent that your household tolerates and follow its directions. Fragrance-free products may suit families who prefer to limit scent, but there is no single detergent that is right for every baby. If a product appears to irritate your child's skin, stop using it and seek medical advice if the irritation persists or seems concerning. Avoid adding products or treatments that are not recommended for the fabric or your washing machine.

Dry clothes fully before storing them, and check that snaps and zippers are intact before dressing your baby. Keep laundry pods, detergents, and other cleaning products secured well out of children's reach. As your baby grows, move outgrown items into a separate bin so daily drawers stay easy to navigate. You do not need a specialized laundry gadget to keep clothes clean; a consistent wash, dry, and sort routine is usually enough. Adjust the system to the amount of laundry your family produces.
